Do I need to use a specific type of Steel? Input material can vary according local requirements and
or availability.
Hayes
SFS will and has in the past re-engineered its systems
to various input material qualities. E.g. G550 or G300
and
the various coatings that these steels are supplied with,
e.g. AZ150/200 for Zincalume or G350 for Galvanised... top
What
sectional properties, grades, etc are required?
As each
system is engineered and delivered with full sectional
properties. These sectional properties are the basis for
the many subsequent calculations required for generating
tables and/or for the software to use when analysing Roof
Truss members which it does from first principles.... top
What
are the specifications and properties of the connection
products used?
Hayes
SFS uses non-proprietary connections which are readily
available with ample data as to their performance, again
Hayes SFS can engineer a system to suit a variety of connection
methods. Hayes SFS also provides all connection details together
with all tie down details required to achieve the relevant
wind requirements.... top
What
design methodology is applied in the System?
Roof Trusses are designed in HayesCAD Software from first
engineering principles. Wall Frames are designed in HayesCAD
Software based on Table Data developed by qualified Structural
Engineers.
HayesCAD Software has been written and checked by qualified
and experienced Programmers and Structural Engineers.
Section Properties and Tables are generated on a Project
to Project basis and varying according to input material
and connections methods..... top
Can
the System be amended to operate to British Standards
and/or Euro design codes?
Yes, BS has already being investigated and if required and
on commencement of a UK based project the complete package
will be modified to conform to any relevant codes.
This
will involve a local accrediting Engineer with suitable
credentials reviewing and endorsing the entire package.... top
How is
the product/service procured? The Hayes SFS is a licenced system to protect the technology
and intellectual property within the systems provided.
These include:
Products – Hayes Patented Steel framing Products
HayesCAD – Computer detailing and design Software
HayesCAM – Production Optimisation Software
FrameWare – Machine Interface Software
Rollforming and Punching
Materials Handling
However
there are no licence fees once the entire system is purchased.... top
What
information is available for specifiers and design process
consultation, etc?
Hayes
SFS provide complete onsite training is all areas of the
system, including HayesCAD. Training Manuals and references
are also provided. These include a specification document
for Designers and Architects..... top
Who does the design and provides/verifies the inputs?
HayesCAD is used to reduce all designs into wall panels,
Roof Trusses and floor member layouts and detailed elevations.
This
ideally is performed inhouse……..but the
package is AutoCAD similar, and can be provided to outside
detailers, under licence, if required..... top
How
are Building Regulation checks, amendment and approval
processes to be handled?
This will vary from location to location and customer to
customer.
For our current Australian customer,
The System is accredited and endorsed by a suitably accredited
local Engineer. Provided the customer designs within that
scope then all applications will fall within that endorsement.
In addition, Hayes SFS has established an Engineering Accreditation
and Design Service (EADS). Every steel frame detail generated
by the Customer is forwarded to Hayes SFS and is check against
the scope of the system and for detailing errors.
If the project is within scope then an individual Certificate
is issue, if not, then Design services are available to ensure
that any out of scope elements of the project meet the relevant
standards which the System was delivered under.
This
service can be endorsed by a suitably accredited local
engineer or can be managed by the customer directly.... top
Will
there be a Quality Management system?
Further
to above, the system process will vary from system to system
and Quality assurance can be provided once the scope has
been set, Again, this is an area which can be managed by
the customer as there may already be in place other management
systems which the Hayes SFS systems can be integrated with..... top
What
advisory or back up service is there?
Further
to our EADS service, Hayes SFS is part of the Hayes
International and Bradbury Group of companies which has offices
worldwide. Advice and Service is always available.... top
Is
the installation carried out purely by direct authorised
installers?
The finished
product is not handled any different to any other Steel
Truss of Wall panel. As per local requirements... top
What
are the delivery and storage requirements?
Depending on the input material used, most coated steel
products are all weather.
Is there
a health and Safety at Work policy and procedure? Nothing
which would require any further consideration over current
industry practices, which vary from location to location.... top
What
information is provided to site? This will vary according to the end user however typically,
Frame and truss layout plans showing the location of all
assembled wall panels and roof trusses, any specific details,
such as beams, standard connection details and tie down details
Can
the system accommodate a range of common roof configurations?
The system allows for enormous flexibility as can be demonstrated
by the variety of designs achieved by our customers in Australia
and in China... top
